چکیده

A case presenting with AV nodal escape rhythms after obvious sinus depression is described. The escape rhythms arise from two dissociated AV nodal pacemakers with differential physiological properties. Variation in the rate of the upper AV nodal pacemaker results in a form of escape-capture bigeminy. Temporary acceleration of the sinus rhythm results in dissociation between sinus and lower AV nodal pacemakers, or conducted sinus rhythm. AV dissociation usually occurs between sinus or, less commonly, an ectopic atrial rhythm, and an AV nodal or a ventricular rhythm. Dissociation between two AV nodal pacemakers is exceptionally rare; only a few cases have been described (Luten and Jensen, I932; Schott, I937; Miller and Sharrett, I957; Castellanos, Azan, and Calvinio, I958; Sanghvi, I96I; Chung, Walsh, and Massie, I964). The following is another example of this unusual arrhythmia.

Limitation of tachycardia zone resulting from longitudinal dissociation of the atrioventricular node in concealed pre-excitation.

Two cases with a concealed left-sided accessory atrioventricular bypass tract are described. In both, functional longitudinal dissociation of the atrioventricular node narrowed the range of atrial premature beat coupling intervals which could initiate re-entry using the accessory pathway. In case 1 early premature atrial beats were followed by an atrioventricular nodal re-entrant echo. The atri...

Prediction of complex atrioventricular conduction rhythms in humans with use of the atrioventricular nodal recovery curve.

Theoretical considerations indicate that complex patterns of atrioventricular conduction produced by rapid atrial stimulation can be predicted from changes in atrioventricular conduction produced by premature stimulation of the atrium. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of this theoretical approach in seven patients undergoing electrophysiologic investigation. The atrioventr...

Incessant junctional reciprocating tachycardia caused by dual atrioventricular nodal pathways and atrio - nodal bypass tract PIETRO

STJMMARY A case is described with clinical and electrocardiographic findings of incessant junctional reciprocating tachycardia. Electrophysiological study showed that longitudinal dissociation of the atrioventricular node into two pathways was responsible for the maintenance of the arrhythmia. The two intranodal pathways had different refractory periods but reciprocally related and overlapping ...

Role of nitric oxide on the electrophysiological properties of isolated rabbit atrioventricular node by extracellular field potential during atrial fibrillation

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to determine direct effects of NO modulation on protective electrophysiological properties of atrioventricular node (AV node) in the experimental model of AF in rabbit. Methods: Isolated perfused rabbit AV nodal preparations were used in two groups. In the first group (N=7), LNAME (50μM) was applied. In the second group (N=12), different concent...

Modulation of extracellular atrioventricular node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm by morphine in experimental atrial fibrillation in isolated rabbit heart

Introduction: Endorphins are produced by cardiomyocytes, and exert different effects on the heart. The aim of the present study is to assess morphine effects on extracellular atrioventricular (AV) node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm of isolated rabbit heart during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: Effects of different concentrations of morphine (10, 20, 50 and 1...
